  1. Welcome to EARTHWATCH 3.5!

  3. EWATCH35.ZIP contains two self-extracting files, one for a VGA version
  4. and one for CGA.  You can install either or both in separate directories
  5. or the same directory on your hard drive.  After installation, the VGA
  6. program has twenty-eight files associated with it, while the CGA has
  7. nine.  Of these, three are shared (BRUN45.EXE, GAZ35.DAT, and
  8. README.DOC).

  10. The installation process requires that you designate target directory(s)
  11. on your hard drive.  If you already have an older version of Earthwatch
  12. in a directory on your hard drive and wish to designate that same
  13. directory, that's fine, but I recommend that you first delete all of the
  14. old files to get rid of unnecessary clutter.

  16. If you have EWATCH35.ZIP on a diskette, insert it in your floppy drive
  17. (usually A or B).  How you now enter the installation command depends
  18. on whether you are operating from DOS, Windows, or Windows 95/97.
  19. From DOS, first enter A: or B: designating the floppy drive that
  20. holds the diskette.  From Windows, click on FILE - RUN, and designate
  21. the drive (A: or B:).  From Windows 95/97 click on START -  RUN and
  22. designate the drive (A: or B:).  Now you are ready to enter the
  23. installation command described below.

  25. If you have EWATCH35.ZIP in a directory on your hard drive, the procedure
  26. is similar, again depending on whether you operate from DOS, Windows,
  27. or Windows 95/97.  From DOS, go to the directory containing EWATCH35.ZIP.
  28. From Windows, click on FILE - RUN and designate the directory containing
  29. EWATCH35.ZIP.  From Windows 95/97 click on START - RUN and designate the
  30. directory containing EWATCH35.ZIP.

  32. Now for the installation command.  For the VGA version, enter
  33. INSTALLV C:\DIRNAME, where DIRNAME is the directory you wish to
  34. designate to contain the VGA version program files.  It is not necessary
  35. to create this directory in advance: If it does not exist, the install
  36. program will create it.

  38. To install the CGA version, enter INSTALLC C:\DIRNAME.  Again, DIRNAME
  39. may be the same or different from the one chosen for the VGA
  40. installation.

  42. Once installed, you can run the VGA or CGA program from DOS by entering
  43. EWV or EWC respectively from its directory.  From Windows or Windows 95/,
  44. 97, run by double clicking on EWV.BAT or EWC.BAT from the File Manager
  45. (Windows) or the Explorer (Windows 95/97).  Better yet - from Windows
  46. or Windows 95/97, create an icon from which to launch EarthWatch.
